But my Truth may not be your Truth. It's based on perspective and opinion and we all know that opinions are like a##holes, everybody's got one.

    Into the Everglades, Part Two

Looks like a great trip. Nice boat. I'm sure I would have gotten lost, no mountains around.

From an outsider's perspective, you would be better off if your politics became less polarizing. I see it as driving down the road bouncing off one guard rail then over to the other side and bouncing off that guard rail. You're getting down the road, but things would be a lot smoother if you...

    3rd in murders.

I saw another statistic where the south has the highest rate (incidents per 100,000 in pop) of violent crime. The NE has the lowest. I guess all the scumbags gravitate to where it is warm in the winter.

    Twist in the boat.

Over the past year or so, I've been building a Point Bennet sea kayak, stitch and glue. I had to lay it out from a table of offsets, and although I strived to be very thorough in my measurements, I had great difficulty getting it to come together nicely without humps and bumps. Now that I have...

    Raised Beds

There was a case in Canada where a farmer was sued by Monsanto who ultimately won. In 1997, some of his canola fields were 'accidentally' contaminated with Round Up Ready canola seed. (Round Up Ready is a patented seed invented by Monsanto that makes the plant resistant to Roundup). The farmer...

    List of Trators..........

So Obama wants to support the treaty like 154 nations around the world. You want him to oppose the treaty like the 3 nations that voted against the treaty - Iran, Syria and North Korea. Who's trying to install sharia law? Most countries that have digital transaction records of firearms...

    another great loss

PTSD is a real issue. Expect to see more like this unless significant treatment resources are put in place.

    I finally did it

They look really nice, especially the handles. What did you make them from? Did you heat treat them?

New to the forum... and first question for the experts.

I always knew it as "An expert is someone who lives 50 miles away and has slides (I guess now that would be powerpoint).

    On the drawing board

I played around with Kayak Foundry and it was fun. Now that I have a design that I think would work, is there a program that would allow the creation of S&G panel plans? I tried using FreeShip, but I didn't have the time or patience (or perhaps adult ADHD) to figure it out. I would like to try...

End Of The World Anti-Gravity Party

We'll quickly know if the world is going to end because it will happen in Australia first as they are a day ahead. Did the Mayans take Leap Year's, Leap Seconds etc into account?

    17 lb pirogue.......maybe

Take a piece of cardboard (heavy paper stock not corrugated) and cut a slot in it. Insert the nail in the slot and use the cardboard to hold the nail to get it set. You could also use an upholsterer's hammer, which has one end magnetized to hold tacks to get them started.

New stove also charges your GPS, or lights or phone

One of my fellow Scout leaders just got a Biolite stove for his birthday, so we tried it out last weekend on a camp. It is too big to use as a backpacker, but would be fine for a boat trip. When you light it up, the thermocouple heats up and creates enough power to run the fan (you need to have...

    NEW WIRE-SAW

As an arborist, it pains me to hear you talking about pruning this way. There is no way you can make proper cuts using a saw like this. Most pros have difficulty making proper cuts with a pole saw especially at the limit of the tool, they would rather climb.

    NEW WIRE-SAW

Jack The problem with this method was the bending of the wire. Tight bends like that will heat up the wire. On our ropes at work, we try to keep the bending ratio of the rope over a branch or a pulley to at least 4x the diameter of the rope. The larger the diameter the less friction, easier to...

    Election time phone calls...........

I recently switched phone companies. I get phone, cable and internet through the same provider. Now the original company is phoning regularly offering me 'spectacular' deals to entice me back. Obviously never learned the term FOAD at university. (f#$% off and die).
