Gaps or no gaps between the seams?

Gaps and spacing for builds are fairly common for sure. I have read across several high profile plan seller forums that really fits are not important in these composite construction builds. I say that this is not a good practice to promote from the getgo to people entering into the madness of...

Well goes to show what some of you guys actually do know!!! A smart individual would know that you never waste one single moment of the day standing around watching varnish dry or hanging out watching Opra and eating bonbons or chips, especially if this includes fishing. The good Lord does not...

Dang tool fanatics!!! My 12n1 12 thousand rpm four inch side grinder is all this old goat owns and calls on for most work. I bet it I brought that dang thing anyway close to me, my digits would be the first in line for its initial test. I am just not qualified on anything else but the old...

Well that would be one bang up of an idea ans for sure you are more than welcomed to wonder up this part of the world. The only problem I see is that there ain't nuff mud around this joint for you guys, only sandbars to party on which I am sure would be a culture shock. :P But in all...

Well Seetick can't have all the fun with all his bare woods. I am slowly wallowing along three inches at a time. This is the interior, all white cedar simulated bead board.

    Plywood - Ultraply XL

I hope the stuff is fine. It passed the abusive dishwasher test for me. The face seems to be birch. We all know or should know that birch was in the Spruce Goose airplane and many airplane parts were made from it. I glued up white cedar on the outside and will sandwich the plywood with insulated...

    Plwood

Here is another one that the guy had dating back to 1878. This is probably a bit off topic in this thread, but really neat. I would think that the centerboard would be hard to operate and adjust in shallow water though.

    Plwood

Actually "plywood boat building goes back a bit further. Blasphemy indeed! I saw this one yesterday dating back to 1872. This one is a double layered right angle plywood of sorts. So yes Sparky it was a ways back, even though your mind maybe failing too, it was probably along the time...

I love the ingenious idea of the yellow weight midship! I guess that helps deminish some of the misery when having to deal with working with that odd shaped throway wood you get down that way. :D Hey, by the way are you going to the Pirates Cove show the first of May, Seetick?

I hate wood. I frankly detest everything it stands for dealing with boats!!! Wood is a true evil substance which boats are made of and I for one require medication when considering building a boat made of the evil product called wood..........cause I can't build as many and as quickly as I would...

    New style hardtop

Actually the boat is like no other boat, but a combination of middle of the night thoughts while rolling around in the bed on one of those sleepless nights. The boat has evolved to a shallow water cruising boat with what amounts to a Chesepeake Deadrise bottom. The boat is lapstrake which can...

    New style hardtop

The two paddlers will be paddling two birding kayaks that will rest on the hardtop and extention over part of the cockpit area. When all else fails including the motor heaven forbid, the cabin will act as a sail and will create a crusing sailor.

    New style hardtop

I sent you the links. Let me try again as I have resized the pictures in house. I also foam cored the trunk including the middle section which also doubles as insulation along with strength, installing a wood grid system too which is not shown but in the beginning. This will get trimmed out and...

    Filler Alternatives

While the particular use was not stated, glass bubbles is not meant for anyhting other than fairing . So make sure you do not use them in tape and glue construction for fillets under the glass tapes.

    Filler Alternatives

I have personally used a fair amount of plain flower, Betty White IIRC. But anyway, flower requires a lot of epoxy and is very hard to almost impossible to sand. I used it as fillets under glass because of the price in a small boat application and I could get it easily. I also wanted to...
