G'day John, Thanks mate. I know the trouble you are having accessing the internet with your laptop here, so I hope you get this. If you are still up for that trip to coincide with my days off, I have a plan. :D Anything short of a cyclone or howling northerly winds and it should be fine. Check...

    Caddepa and Hairies First Paddle

We headed off again towards the wall of the second dam through remnant, old growth rain forest lining the banks and all too soon the wall came in site. A quick walk around there and a piccie or two and we headed home. All up, only about 6 or 7 miles paddled but considering the...

    Caddepa and Hairies First Paddle

John took my boat for a walk solo and I watched closely as he did miraculous things with the paddle  I learnt a lot from him today. Thanks mate. I had never before seen a "J" stroke done in real life, let alone some of the other things he showed me. A few shots of my boat with a true...

    Hairies Bayou Skiff.

G'dy Chuck, I do have some 1/4" ply and will probably do just as you suggest mate. At the moment, I guess like so many of us, I am watching my pennies - and trying to build as much as I can with the left over materials I have on hand. I have a very bad feeling about the economic direction...

    Hairies Bayou Skiff.

G'day Captaindoung, Yeah mate. I rebated the ribs before I glued them together. It is easier for me this way. :D Re the different boats, I am repairing my old Laker and had to move the canoe outside. Whenever I have a bit of resin left over, I use it on the Laker. :D G'day Chuck, I am...

    Hairies Bayou Skiff.

G'day guys, Been drooling over Chuck's skiff build for far too long. Time to make my own! :D Mine will be a lil different to Chucks and probably not as pretty. Got the ribs made. All the panels are rough cut and side panel splices are started. I had a broken sheet of BS1088 that I was...

New Paddling buddies first trip - Burrum Wier.

Mate, I was thinking something a little more like this set up only based on a Laker hull. Or perhaps even a small version of this boat, say at around 10 feet or so.

New Paddling buddies first trip - Burrum Wier.

G'day Ron, As far as i know, Sasha has never before paddled a real kayak. Her only experience has been in her Mums wide, very stable, stable sit on top. Sasha took to the laker like a duck to water. She is 10 years old and only tiny and weighs in around 30kgs - if that. She showed no sign of...
