Last year, we were arse deep to a tall giraffe in snow. Forecasts I'd heard for this winter were dire. But - hardly any snow atall, so far.
Cloudy weather, and of all things FOG!, have hampered flying with low ceilings and poor viz. the times I have flown, the low density altitudes have given dense air. That gives more power to the engine and more lift to the wings. And, usually, winter air is smooth without heated air rising.
