Who's Jake?

Jake is a working man Nothing more, nothing less. He lives in a simple house and eats simple food, or what the wealthy folks would call simple. He has what he needs and makes what he can. He has learned that what lots of folks "need" isn't even on his list of "wants". When the weather is hot he sweats and when it's cold he dresses heavier. He doesn't have a specific trade so he can't hire out as a pipe-fitter or brick-mason, but he can fit pipe anyplace and he's laid many tons of bricks. He's never been a financial manager but he understands the value of a dollar, probably better than the professional money men who have far more of them. Jake's boots are heavy, winter and summer and there's usually tools of some sort poking out of his overall pockets. As a rule, he's either coming from a job or going to a job, or he's between jobs and trying to keep two bosses happy. Jake's values are simple. He won't lie and he won't steal. He lives on the basis of Karma, though he has never heard the word. He'll treat you straight and help you when you need it, and expects the same in return but has learned to receive less. If you look at a picture of the men flocking into a ship yard during WWII, Jake's Dad and his uncles were probably there. The old pictures of the men filing underground in the coal mines show his Grandfathers. Look at the big old pictures of the Blue Ribbon Winners at the County Fair and his Mother and Grandma show up with their sewing and canning. His muscle is the strength of this great nation, his blood has stained the soil where freedom itself was tested. He is one of us. He is all of us.

It may take a while to draw his stories out. Jake works better than he talks. But, with some patience and a little observation we'll see the man himself and hopefully we'll learn something.

Jake......

He is a dying breed amongst the folks out there today but he reminds me of a lot of folks on here , down to earth and just plain good people. Nothing pretentious and nothing more then what you see is what you get. Dare I say , country or working folks who have what they earned or made.

Looking forward to hearing more from Jake. :D
