Why not match the bottom to the same wood that's in the sides ? Or use a good marine grade board that's waterproofed since the bottom gets the most wear and tear of any part. I'm working under the assumption you are going to paint the boat and not epoxy and glass it.

It's a shame you aren't glassing it. Those knots in the wood would make an interesting look when finished.
Like most things in life it's not hard when done right , can be a real pain when done wrong. Wasn't that a lot of help .... 
One thing it does do , adds a lot more $$$$ to the cost and additional time in making the boat.
There are steps to the process that needs to be followed. There are also time restrictions on a couple steps that have to held to.

I generally use the low priced boat seat from Walmart it has a plastic frame shaped like a bass boat seat very light weight Often I put it on a Cedar pedestal to get the right height
After reading about your build, I ordered the PDF download and site said I’d receive a email within 2 hours with the PDF attached. They said to contact them if I haven’t received email within 2 hours, well after 48 hours I have yet to receive anything, not even a response from the site.

I can't help you about getting the plans but welcome to the site. I think Duck Calls and Podnus both had some delays getting their plans. Sounds like the site is a little too optimistic. Have you tried contacting them again?
Pleas post about your build. I like the design and am looking forward to seeing another one come together.

Out of curiosity have you looked at boat plans from Uncle Johns General Store or Matt's at Jem Watrcraft ? Those are two folks I have done business with and are extremely reliable.
