I went to the website to see more about lap strake S&G. One answer I couldn't find: Is the out side fiber glassed and how to handle the cloth over the laps. I may have to builds one.

There is a book "The Canoe Shop" by "Chris Kulczycki" that tells you how to build a 12', 14', or a16' Sassafras canoe. The book says you glass the bottom of the #1 planks and both the #1 and #2 planks on the inside of the hull.

Chris is the fellow who started Chesapeake Light Craft. Later, he sold the business.
