I went on a quick varmint hunting trip yesterday afternoon. It was nice and cool, kinda windy but not too bad. I got set up and started calling, about 15 minutes into it a coyote shows up at about 40 yards standing broadside looking at the call. Thinking this would be too easy I set the crosshairs on his shoulder and squeezed. To my utter amazment that dead coyote ran off. :? So I go look around to make sure I did'nt hit him, I did'nt. By this time it's getting dark so I load up my stuff and head home.
Looking for redemption I left the house at 5:00 this morning. It was perfectly calm and 19 degrees
. I get set up again in the same place and start calling. I called for awhile with no luck so I thought I would switch over and call some crows. I get the crow fight rolling with about 50-60 crows circling looking for the sound of the fight. I do this for a couple of minutes and look down towards a creek about 200 yards away and see this guy looking at me over a small bush. I slowly turn to get lined up and all I can in the scope is his neck and head. I set the crosshairs on the tip of his nose and squeeze the trigger. At the sound of the shot he disappears and I am thinking Not Again. So I walk down to look and there he lays. Caught him right below the chin.
