My first plank and scaled model pirogue. Thanks seedtick for the lessons.

Wood was regrowth cypress and had little color so I opted to paint the sides:

Looked better to me:

Used plywood for the floor and pine for the seats because they would be painted also:

Inside painted:

3.5 to 1 scale = 35+ times as hard to build. At least for me.

P.S. I did not do the painting. Ms. Linda Lyles http://www.natchitochesartguildgallery.org/linda-lyles was kind enough to do the art work. I was honored to contribute the frame.

Boat was raffled today. Lady that won is an artist who likes to hunt and fish with her husband. Went to a good home. I'm pleased. :D

Nearly 1 1/2 $million!!!! That's a helluva lot of money for a 1-2 day soirée.

It is a great event. Reflects the values and character of the folks in the Minden area. They raise more money per capita than any other city. Some of the money is raised all during the year by school children and others. The auction and raffle is the main event.

Makes me proud my grand kids call it home.

Kayak Jack. You are still here and posting. Wow….aside from you and maybe three or four others, i think the population has turned over here since the last time I was in. I am planning a boat build, so i may hang out here for a while. Time will tell. More as it develops. Piper
