Plank Pirogue

My first plank and scaled model pirogue. Thanks seedtick for the lessons.


Wood was regrowth cypress and had little color so I opted to paint the sides:


Looked better to me:




Used plywood for the floor and pine for the seats because they would be painted also:



Inside painted:



3.5 to 1 scale = 35+ times as hard to build. At least for me.

A really nice job on the construction of the Pirogue. That art work on the inside takes it to an different dimension , it is exceptional.
One Pirogue that needs to be in a museum or art gallery.

Boat was raffled today. Lady that won is an artist who likes to hunt and fish with her husband. Went to a good home. I'm pleased.

Nearly 1 1/2 $million!!!! That's a helluva lot of money for a 1-2 day soirée.

It is a great event. Reflects the values and character of the folks in the Minden area. They raise more money per capita than any other city. Some of the money is raised all during the year by school children and others. The auction and raffle is the main event.

Makes me proud my grand kids call it home.
