Just thought I'd start a thread for folks to share any paddle making resources - tips, plans, web sites, etc. It'll be a great help for folks like me who prefer to learn from other people's experiences. I'm good enough at making mistakes already

It might be helpful to put paddle-type in the Subject.

Greenland Paddle Resources

'The' Greenland Paddle how-to by Chuck Holst. This seems to be the one most people mention (pdf)
http://www.qajaqusa.org/QK/makegreen2.pdf

Another GP how-to, by Gerry David. Not quite as 1-2-3 as some others, but discusses more of the how and why.

Laminating a GP blank (but no GP plans).

GP Picture series, using a chisel to cut-to-depth rather than a bandsaw

Ross Leidy's GP. Construction series, with each step linked to Chuck Holst's instructions.

Paddle Plans

Michael Storer's Single and Double Plans: (free)

Rick Waters' "The Northwoods Paddle". Nice discussion of the process, but no dimensions.
http://www.wcha.org/paddles/northwoods/

Rob Stevens' discussion. Unfortunately, the design part is "trace the outline of a paddle you like".
http://www.wcha.org/paddles/stevens_paddle.html

Various Tips and Hints, another "trace the outline of a paddle you like".

Mother Earth News Laminated Canoe Paddle by John Stultz. View "Image Gallery" to see the plan - it is too small to be usable for me. It appeared in the July/August 1984 issue if you have access to back issues.

Lee Valley plans with rough dimensions. Also has a marking jig to round square stock.
