I thought I would take a building break, BUT I had to have a short truck boat for the Kansas creeks and sloughs. So armed with my newly gained knowledge of rocker, flair, stem angle, and whatever else makes the shape and function of a boat “what it is” I tried again. My patterns of the last build are in Texas, Maybe that was best, to start from scratch.
I didn’t take many build pictures, so here are some pictures of the finished boat. Notice the cedar strips follow the lines of the boat, this time. Pretty close to what I’d hoped for, light enough and stable enough for this old geezer!

Length 9’ 8”
Beam 35 ½” (5” aft of center)
Cockpit 5’ 10”
Side height 8 ½”
Flare 30 degrees
Rocker stern 1 ½”
Rocker bow 2 ¼”
Weight 19.6 lbs.
The pictures to this post disappeared, probably because I used a photo share site that went away.I couldn’t find the exact pictures that were posted. These pictures of the build is the best I could do:)

One sharp looking boat. I like the idea of the built in rod holder , that's a rod saver fer sure. I notice the lack of anyplace to keep any fish. Inquiring minds want to know ....did you really catch that bass or just borrow from some kid ( bank fishing ) for the picture.;) If not then your taxidermist did a great job on the real life mount of a fresh caught Bass.

Very, very nice. No doubt about what that boat is made of. Nice fish also.
I also noticed the boots, but I'm confused. Where is the mud? I have not found a way to go and not get some mud in the boat.

Thanks for the compliments on the boat, fish, and my new boots. I was looking for comments on the "old man" side zippers in the boots ,or possibly Jack would notice the hair on my legs doesn't turn blonde in the sun! Let's Go Brandon!!!

I'm impressed with the clear finish. Is it automotive coating? Did you spray it? If so, what kind of sprayer/set up?

Under 20lbs. is impressive. How thick are your strips? What weight cloth, and how many layers?

Thanks

It is a good design for you. The "V" floor has to add a lot of stiffness. The materials reduce the weight considerably. Joey always reminds me that reducing the boats length removes materials from the center of the boat. That is where most of the weight per foot is.
Another question if you don't mind. Tell us about the emblem on the deck. Decal, painted on, etc.?

Thanks
