Not so much a trip report... more of a family vacation report.

Just got back from a long weekend trip just up the road at Fontainebleau State Park. We stayed in the new (since Katrina) cabins on Lake Pontchartrain. It was an extended family gathering and really just an excuse to get out of the house (only 20 minutes away) and spend some quality time with each other. The water was shallow and everyone enjoyed splashing around and paddling my (non-wooden) boats. Wildlife abounds in the park. We lost track of the number of deer seen every day and night. And the neighborhood raccoons paid us a visit every night (well, the garbage cans, anyway).

Well, here is the best part... Getting the youngsters on the water :)

It just don't get any better than that. Watching the little ones have a good time. I have taken my grandchildren on many a Great Adventure and not a minute of it was wasted. Good for you Russell.

Good deal, Russ, for you and the kids. We love Fontainebleau State Park, Diane and I go there once in a while and Christine spends time there sunning, swimming and shooting coins with the metal detector with her friends. Fascinating old sugar factory there, and some great Oak Trees.

Glad you got a vacation. Did you have to sandwich it in between 2-3 other vacations like our fearless leader does?
