A kayak hauler you can camp in..

Well I got the bug earlier this year to build an alternative to our pop-up tent camper we have used for 20 yrs....Something a little easier to set up and just down size the camping experience..It is 5'X10'...
Built with the wife in mind..for here to be able to stand in and couldn't forget Air Conditioning...

Beautiful work as always. Can you explain the cloth wrapped cutout? Is that the standing space for your wife? Part of the AC set up?

That is going to be really nice when it is completed.
Yes , I have to agree with your wife about the AC in it , that would be a necessity for summer time camping. You will have a nice cool spot to relax in and especially get some good sleep , re-energized for the next day activities.
After all there are some privileges to camping in a small trailer over tent or hammock camping.

Just a little suggestion on your trailer frame . You loose a ton of strength by not tying the upper corners of your angles together.

Ron I know their is a lot of twist in the angle pcs. I added to the tongue...I welded a pc. of angle to form a box in order to clamp on the Tongue Jack but I need to weld another pc. behind it to the center tonge which is 2X3 box.....
If I were to make a trailer from scratch it would be all put of 2X2 box....

This is what the trailer used to look like...The tongue in the pic. is 2X2 1/4'' wall I went with the original 2X3 in the build..

By the time You cut off all the steel the trailer really has some flex..But the camper bolted on made it stiff....

The doors are on and I made (Wiley Windows)....The window sill will allow me to raise the window and keep the rain out...

Well got the skin on the roof and back to the garage cause I've got to get back to building cabinets for new homes...This will be the 3rd house since I started this project....

Well, I finally got back to work on it in June.... Getting a break from the home builder.....
Using my airbrush, and water based stain, I started fogging on the lighter stain around the perimeter....

Then, with the darker color to resemble where the trim would have gone....

Took it to the local quarry to get it weighed....Without that big refrigerator it would be Under 1,000 lbs, It weighed in at 1,020 lbs....Middle of July....

Well, got the initial trip under our belt, it was only an hour away and the Sonic pulled it with no problem..
The second trip I took the following weekend, just me and the dog....To an Ozark stream 2 1/2 hours away...I pulled it with my old truck....

She is smilling, she likes it!

In the campsite pictures with the truck is that an A/C Unit under the rear of the camper ?

I like your fishing and camping partner , growing up (teenager years ) I had two Dachshunds , the mother and the son. The son's paw would cover a half-dollar when he stepped on it , he was good sized and not fat. One day he got a armadillo , drug it out of it's hole and shook it to pieces.

The trailer is 5' 7'', I'm 5' 10'', the wife is 5' 6'', and I take a 2 step stool along with us ....

I like the ideas. Loading with a helper would be much safer for the boat. And, for the person too, I guess.
I have to load alone, and opted for a lower vehicle. Easier on older bodies. Easier when it's windy, too.
