    Rowing

So the shorter oars would probably be better? I may go this route: just get some 5 foot oars, bolt on some oar locks and go for it. Which oar locks do you recommend?

    Rowing

Re: r Hmm, that sounds good. Maybe pay pay'em a bowl of rice every week. Seriously, I like trolling cause it allows me to fish and explore and get some exercise. I'd rather catch than fish.

    Rowing

I'm considering adding oars to my pirogue. Have any of you tried this? What would I need to make it work? I want to row because I like to troll instead of casting for fishing. I want to try planer boards, but turning around every 4 or 5 seconds to watch the planers seems too much trouble.

    Pirogue by Coogs

Believe it or not it takes a balance of chaotic and organized people to make the world go 'round. The super planner, ultra organized types are good for long term projects, but when the pressure is on and the time is limited the chaotic types thrive because they produce their best work under...

Is a Pirogue good for fishing?

So where do you guy find you spots? I've got an awful lot of water to cover and not much time to cover it. I had some luck yesterday trolling a crank bait near the shoreline in 10 to 12 feet deep of water. I pick up two spotted bass off a fallen tree limb. I look along the shoreline in my...

    Bolger pirogue

Yeah, I agree on all counts. After building my UJ pirogue kit I'm ready for a more efficient design. The JEM Cape Fear SOT Kayak was recommended. I figure fish one season in this pirogue then start on a new boat at season's end.

    john's A$$ finally in gear

Hmm, doesn't having it bolted down create stress on that one part of the wood? I think that's why the pacific islanders lashed everything, so that the whole unit could bend and sway as needed while remaining strong.

Anyone have any tips on rigging a transducer? Maybe the suction cup thing is good.

Yeah, I was thinking two rod holders behind and a depth finder in front to troll and drift the break line of the river.

    Post Your Fishing Rig

I'm trying to get my pirogue set for fishing. I think I know just bout how I want it rigged. I figure two rod holders plus a depth finder in front, Rigged with two drift anchors for max drift control. I'll all deck loops every few inches since I didn't add a interior gunnels. Will some of you...
