This build is strictly, because I liked the design, looks, it will be plenty light enough to carry and lift on top of my tow vehicle. Speed and ease of paddling or not important.

Ron, You missed the point. I said round. That does not include boats with flat curvatures, like plank building. Then I too would not bead & Cove. I would say it all depends on the "looks the builder" is going for.

Yes, it is not a smooth finish. It will break the water resistance for sure.

That is a good question, but I do not think they would do much good. When you shrink the Dacron it fits its surroundings. It does not stretch flat.

Ron, If you are going to build a canoe or kayak with (rounded) bottoms, Bead and Cove or the best and easiest ways to go.

Benn a little while since last post, but I finally got the Spar Urethane and painted the frame. Actually even streched the Kevlar strands on it. With the help of Beekeeper.

The Dacron will be a challenge, but I look forward to it. I like trying and hopefully accomplishing new things.

I was looking for something light to haul on top of my tow vehicle. Finally bought a 36' motorhome and have been re-modeling it and hope to do some traveling. Plan to spend some time around Lakes Superior and Michigan, been a long time since I have spent some time there. Around 50 years.

Been sanding and decided to take some pics of the bottom and show what it took to get the floor boards in.

They show gussets under the seat frames. I made the seats wider than was called for, so I thought about screwing them into the ribs. They are also epoxied.

Well Floor Boards are in and now comes the part I hate. Getting it ready for Urethane.

Although there are a few scattered trees around. I would imagine they were planted. It is not native, but they do seem to grow down south. This BW actually came from Iowa.
