I decided to create a SOF using the old challenger forms...It will need to have a keel stringer....

I really like looking at ,the skeleton, frame work of structures....

The gunwale is lowered about 3'' so from the keel to the top of it is 5''(So the height of the side went from 8'' to 5'')

I moved ,what would have been, the original top of the side panel in creating a tumblehome side...hopefully for more wind resistance...the cockpit is 48'' long...

From the bow...

And the stern..

It is always fun paddling a new boat.....This will be a good small lake flat water boat...adding a rudder being they work fantastic wile drifting with the wind etc..etc..

Will be interesting making this look right poking through the fabric...

With the rudder ,seat and all, it weighs 30lbs....
Had it out a few times and tracks real good without the rudder....

That is really nice, I want one! Any chance of some detail on the technique and material you have used to lash the frame members together please.
Cheers John.

Loving the boat. Got the book. Jeff must have shipped it the morning I ordered because it only took 4 days.

How are you liking Jeffs Polyester??? I'm just not convinced yet that it will be strong enough and have enough puncture resistance. But I sure love the Idea of being able to use Minwax poly and or house paint!

I will be starting on a Yost Sea Rider frame when I get home this evening.

The polyester is great..don't have to worry even when fishing around flooded timber etc...the keel stringer grinding on abrasive concrete launch ramps or sharp rocks is not to good...The Ozark streams have mostly rounded over river rock bottoms and mossy covered rock in places..again the keel stringer would need a rub strip ....and the fabric between the stringers might get the paint worn through but this polly. is tuf stuff.

That sea rider only has a 19.5'' beam..man my narrowest boat is 22'' ...I'm thinking of doing a Point Bennett 17.5 with 21'' beam and converting to SOF...

By the way ..arent you down in Arkansas...the wife has family in Fort Smith and Little Rock...
