Winter Time Favorite

It seems like there are some Fall/Winter recipes that we use every year. A favorite with my crew here is posted below. for years I used to make these and cook a batch to carry out icefishing. They are fast, easy and good. Lots of ways to modify these, about like Kayak Jack's Power Bars. If you make a batch of these they probably would last six-weeks.......until your crowd finds out how good they are.

You all probably have Winter Favorites, too......add them to this post as you wish.

Six-Week Bran Muffins
1 (15oz.) box Raisin Bran??1 C. melted butter or oil??1 1/2 C. sugar (more or less depending on your sweet tooth)??4 eggs, beaten??1 qt. buttermilk??5 C. flour??5 t. soda??2 t. salt??Extra raisins....or dried cranberries.....or dried apples.....and nuts.....whatever. ??Mix Raisin Bran, sugar, flour, soda, salt and extra raisins in a large bowl. Add eggs, butter or oil and butter milk and mix well by hand.??Fill greased muffin pans 2/3 full. Bake at 375-400° F. for 15-20 minutes or until brown. Batter will keep for six weeks.

jack, a recalcitrant cracker is like a twice-baked potato, right?

I just happen to know that if you use the words APPLE, PINE AND CHOP in the same sentence, there are some Michiganders who will be headed out to the woods, tools in the back of the truck to collect whatever fits the description and if there was a tree that had both pine and apple on the same trunk, well, then they could have feed and cover right there and everybody would want to plant that on their deer camp. Then, if you tap 'em and make syrup, you'd be the King Of Amasa.
