My New Dutch Oven

I went to the bottle gas place last week to get the camper tanks filled. They had new, 12" dutch ovens on sale for $21. I couldn't resist. It is a hybrid between a camp oven and a kitchen oven: a lid with a deep rim and no legs. I'll use it on a DO stand so the coals can get underneath and not touch the bottom. It is a Bayou Classic brand, pretty nice all around, the lid fits nice, good quallity casting. http://bayouclassicdepot.com/7460_cast_ ... h_oven.htm

It is out in the yard with coals top and bottom now, seasoning for the first time.

Too daggone heavy to carry in the pirogue, i'll stick to my little one for most trips, but this new one will do a ham or a brisket or a couple loaves of bread or a big damper bread in a pan.....or deep fry with the basket that came with it.

Dang, I've been trying to lose a few pounds, too.
