    Well this is different!

Started off was gonna be a teardrop camper but you can only sit or lie down in those. Formply floor and sides. Had some left over fibreglass tent poles but they exploded due to tight radius bend. Electrical conduit, cheap and tough enough. Calico covering. Went for a "look" rather than...

    Well this is different!

Hey Jack, wood wheels are frowned upon these days, gotta move with the times. Wagon all folds down inside itself when on the road and even I can put a kayak or two on top. Car is a Grand Vitara, not huge but out of reach to roofrack for li'l ol' me.

So, it's been a while. Hope all of you that are still alive are well. Got a new car last year. Too bloody high to put a kayak on, mebbe I'm too short... Bought a trailer. Then i started to think. (That in itself has been know to cause problems.) Thought hmm a teardrop , or tiny camper. Currently...

There was no recovery Jack, but thanks for the kind thought. She died a year ago. Edit Oops I see what I did now and how you might have thought that. My bad.

    Hello ok.

No I'm still kicking along. Wife fell off the Earth though. Had a pretty rough time for a while there. Climbing back on the horse bit by bit. Just thought I'd drop by see what was going on at the funny farm. Very quiet here, even more so at Jem? Can't have been something I said. Hope everyone is OK.

    Long term experiment

Lovin' this build, and it's so unusual to see Ron thinking INSIDE the box. Keep it up son. Cheers John.

    Laker in Lithuania

Higher sided kayak equals more wind interference. It's all about trade offs. Cheers John.

    Fooling the boat gods?

The idea at the time being about altering the length of a short kayak to make it behave more like a longer kayak... and for all the reasons you reckon it achieves. I recall designers of the big boats believe it affects secondary waves that ocurr along the length of a boat. Hmm Joey when I posted...

    Some thoughts on weight

Yeah Jack but to play safe you could build a thwart out of a skinnier stick and a skinny piece of rope glued together  cheers John.

    17 lb pirogue.......maybe

Good stuff Joey, I'm sure that I'm not the only one that enjoyed your experiment. I know most of us have had sillier ideas than that. Cheers John.

    17 lb pirogue.......maybe

The gators might just see their reflection and feel amorous toward the boat. Just so long as you don't see your reflection and skeer yerself. Formica or laminex as we know it hereabouts would make a most excellent boat I reckon and the finish would be superb. No good in rocky waters but...

    Be prepared (stoves)

Just loving this thread; Tinnovation of the first order. Have you thought of adding a labrador to act as a guide dog when the reflection of the sun blinds you? How about insurance for people suing your a$$ when you blind them 8) Can't wait for the next instalment! Keep it up. Cheers John. Edit...

Hey Joey, Just thinking that the outside of the wood will want to stretch more easily than the aluminium. Think I'd be inclined to put the curve into the wood first. Just a thought. Cheers John.
