Don't like Buffalo weather? Wait 10 minutes...

...and yet another reason I don't like palm trees :!: If it wasn't for palm trees, big bugs, alligators, snakes, high temps and humidity, hurricanes, plus the fact that there are just wwaaayyy too many old people, I would love Florida

Don't like Buffalo weather? Wait 10 minutes...

3 or 4 days sure don't give much opportunity for winter snow activities. Right now my mahogany Liberty is mostly white. Good thing I don't like palm trees 'cuz they sure wouldn't do well in my yard.

Don't like Buffalo weather? Wait 10 minutes...

... and it will change. I live in ski country and we didn't have enough skiable snow until after New Years, and 95% of that was manmade snow :( . Ski season was short and with mediocre conditions at best. Frequent rain which is death on snow. My local ski area has been closed for a month...

    Election Results

...but if the water level is too low (or high), you can always pick another location and you can always dress for the weather. We're pretty much stuck with lousy politicians for the duration of their term :x :x :x .

    Lasagna Roll-Ups

I wouldn't do that to Jack!!! (it would just give him another reason to M&C). Done hi-jackin' I quit using fat free cheeses in my lasagna. even when I tried to drain them, the end result was still too soupy for my delicate pallet.

    Lasagna Roll-Ups

    Lasagna Roll-Ups

For most canoe trips, I normally assemble traditional lasagna in my dutch oven, stick it in the deep freeze overnight and when we get to the 1st night's camp site, it's thawed. Let it bake when setting up camp. Never had much problem with it falling apart but I just might try your roll-up idea...

    Dry Bags, Mukluks, Etc.

I confess: :) I like water shoes :) . I usually wear polypro sock liners inside them and that helps reduce the wet & cold feeling. If the water is in the 50's, I add wool socks. If the water is in the 40's, it's time to put the canoes away and start prepping the ski gear. I seem to vaguely...

    Coffee Bags

I really enjoy Tim Hortons coffee... when they make it! No matter who else or how else it's brewed at home, it never tastes the same as when the funny lookin' kids that work there can make it. Fortunately, around here, there is always a T-Ho's within a 20 minute drive (although, there have...

Fall means it's time for chili

Tried black beans in my chili and haven't looked back since. I'm sure kidney beans have another use but I haven't found it yet. When I make chili, nothing gets drained or rinsed.

The trip that shouldn't have happened!!!

Allegheny River: Roulette, PA to Olean, NY. After several months of internet exploration, correspondence with locals, and a road trip in August to check it out, I decided this was a doable trip. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (still not enough exclaimation points, but you get the idea) Friday...
