    Stickers and such?

After building a boat that I felt had to be painted,I plan on varnishing the next one. My question is,can I put stickers/decals on the boat and epoxy over them? I want to put the Jem logo and my name on it but I want it to be in the epoxy and not on it. Is that do-able?

Zydeco 16 pirogue from Applegate Boatworks

I don't know much but I would prefer the Uncle John's simply because you dont have to use thwarts. Or whatever you call those brace thingies that the Zydeco boats have.

    My Buddy

Good lookin' rottie! I love those dogs. I had to give mine away and it darn near killed me. My sister and brother-in-law just lost one of about 12 years. He was 160+ pounds. He was so gentle and plain terrified of our Jack Russles. Here is where I found him hiding from Jack one day...

    skeg or no skeg

I am amazed with the tracking of my pirogue and I have no skeg or keel at all. I do use a kayak type paddle though. I also sit pretty much in the center of my boat.

    New Builder in Honolulu

Just store your boat with the covers OFF. I have been thinking about making the holes in the covers biger and putting strings in them so they don't get lost.

    New Builder in Honolulu

You can buy those hatches at a store like West Marine. They are called deck plates. I built my pirogue the same way. I followed the advice given to me here and drilled a very small hole in each plate. The tiny hole will let air move back and forth but will only let a tiny bit if any water in...

    Digital cameras

Oh yes!!! I love my Pentax Optio W30 and my Olympus WS720. They both are not only waterproof but will take pictures and video underwater. You don't have to buy batteries and never have to worry about getting it wet. Check out this video from when me and my friend Nik caught our first...

    Joint alternatives?

Just use the butt joint. You won't be sorry. The strength you are concerned with is going to come from final glassing of your boat anyway.

    Trip to Baton Rouge

    Planning new powered pirogue

I cut one of those shafts once and never had any problems. I used a Reciprocating saw but a miter saw might be better.
