I did a walking stick in spar varnsh once that never did fully dry. Years later it is still grippy. I've been asked many times how I did the grippy finish, people actually like it. Of course I tell them ancient family secret. Still dont know why it never cured, same varnish has been used on...
this is lookin real purdy Ron. I am now convinced I will attempt a laker this way. My panels are still just sitting on the floor and could be easily used as templates. Question for me is whether or not I get the permission slip signed
I did not see those clamps, do you see how they are so neatly placed?
Don't mind us, we are all just a little bit jealous of your ability to keep a neat and tidy shop...a skill I do not possess
Nice build so far.
I too am in agreement, the shop is far too organised and frankly I think it's out of line. The bank of lockers along the wall???????? Come on!!!!!!
If my wife sees this I'll be cleaning for a month of Sundays.
do you think there are any concerns about cross expansion/contraction where the grain crosses at the bottom of the boat?
this boat is gonna look awesome
can you shed some light on the flat topped stations? I went back and looked at the drawing of the finished boat and it shows raised curved decks. Am I mssing something or more to come???
I'm thinkin the joint where the side to the bottom is stitched could be thickened lumber to facilitate really sanding that joint round, would give a really cool look I think. Could even be rounded off with a router or radius spokeshave....just thinkin out loud.
I know this isn't a new idea...
I gotta track down some cedar, I have all the panels for the Lakers laid out ready for stitcing and don't see the time for a couple weeks to start stitchin. I think may have time to rip and glue a bunch of strips tho.....Hmmmmm...wifey gonna be upset methinks.....Hmmmmmm....man or...
lookin good Ron, I gotta stop reading these forums, the gears are turning. Found myself out in the garage last night eyeballing the panelas for my lakers to see if strip panels might work.
OK..."interesting things in the background"
Ron.....do you really have to label your table saw "saw"????????? I've always found that one hard to forget
