that fit guide is quite good as it takes into account the width of your boat. Too many shops just ask how tall you are in order to guage paddle length. For me however it shows a 230 and I like a 240. Goes to show personal preference comes into the equation as well.
I see no flaws.... I too built my pirogue from stuff laying around. Made it all the more special to me
Only sughgestion I have for you is get some safety glasses on the young feller when blowing out the debris with compressed air.
I always carry when camping a Grohmann Russel belt knife that was issued to me many years ago. It is a great "do all" knife.
My latest sharp love is the Leatherman Skeletool in titanium. They took all the crap you never use off the leatherman and scaled the weight back to nothing. This has a...
might be late for suggestions but.....
There is an old way of repairing holes in plastic buckets bet it would work for a plastic yak too.
Coins tend to be made to last a long time. If you can find a coin of a suitable size, pinch it in some pliers and heat that sucker up quite hot. Then...
being the owner of 2 SOT fishing yaks I can easily say they are incredible yaks for fishing. You also may be underestimating their value as a camping boat too. Allot of them have incredible amounts of available storage both above and below deck.

beautiful job on the pirogue. Interesting how the grain on the sides goes up and down instead of lengthwise. Can't say I've ever seen plywood sheets made that way. The birch will make for beautiful brightwork. Looks like a boat made by an experienced craftsman
solar power can easily be used as a sole source if it weren't for the cost. The cost will remain high untill the gas companies are running out of profits (not in my lifetime)
We priced out gouing full solar on a home and it was crazy expensive. To run fully off grid would have taken 35 years...
what great pics, it's like armchair travelling. I get to see places I'll probably never get to see.
The bayou is one place I'd really like to see before I go. One of these "camps" would be a great central point to yak through the bayou from
Ummm....nice idea on the seal. have you ever seen Lexel?? It is a bit heavier than silicon and clear. Has good adhesion preoperties and I think it may flatten out better and smoother as it has a longer working time. It is also 100% water proof unlike silicon which will soften with continuous...
