A Comfortable Pirogue (Boat) seat ..ya can make

Thanks for the response BeeKeeper, I like your extensions, but like I said before I am wanting to build as light as possible. I am building a Touring TV and my search results tell me that 9 inches is a good height for the seat in that boat (according to TXriver rat). I am wondering what the...

A Comfortable Pirogue (Boat) seat ..ya can make

Light weight options I have had my plans for a couple years and have finally finished my first. I built a racing seat, made it as light weight as I could. Will post photos soon (but it really looks just like everyone elses) I just weighted it on the mail scale at work 3.4 pounds What does...

Building first pirogue - spud poles?

I have built spud holes with grey plastic? pipe. They have been solid for four or five years now. I just epoxied them in. I did rough them up a bit and gave them a little torch treatment that I found a recommendation for somewhere on the web. I used glass cloth over the union between plastic...

Skinny perow coming ( Brazos Cruiser SS)

Re: Skinny perow coming Less flare means less rocker? Correct? How tall are you planing on making the sides?

UJ Pirogue: Changing stem angles, effects on rocker?

I had the same debates in my head before I built my last pirogue. Get some poster board and make a model and play with the dimensions and angles. All you have to make is the sides to get the ideas and see the results you are trying to wrap your head around. It is the side flare that mostly...

    Glassing with cloth

I feel bad that no one has answered your post in this many days. It really is not that bad. My advice just do it. Your going to have to build a second boat anyway to get better at it. It won't be that bad. Go for it!

    pirogue for duck hunting

The first pirogue i built for duck hunting was the 6 hour canoe. I was disapointed with the carrying capacty although it was fine for a solo boat but i don;t have a duck dog. The bottom width on that boat is about 25 inches. I built the second one using what I learned form the first and ideas...

    New photos, old project

The doors do have piano hinges I got for free, wish they were stainless, they are already rusting a bit. It is basically the size of a teardrop. It weighs in right at 1000 pounds, easy to tow for my Yukon.

Honest[as you can get] opinions on tents

Mic, I just now looked at your new tent as of January. I thought it looked pretty good for a light weight shelter for one. Not really in the market myself but glad to hear an honest report. I can also see how it would be less than grand. I bought this one late summer on clearance for 100...

    Spud sugestions

Bring moma one of these and she'll knock your lights out. Actually I just went and checked mine and they are about 1.5 to 1.75 diamiter on the fat ends and about 5.6 foot long. These dimentions seemed to work for me. I was in a duck weed covered marsh and couldn't really pole or paddle...

    Spud sugestions

I went in the woods and cut down a couple young straight hicory trees. I made mine about 5 foot long. I can anchor in as much as 18 inches of water and mud and still get in and out of the boat to retreave ducks or rearange decys and two can stand and shoot out of it. I use the poles also to...

    Joint alternatives?

I like the way your thinking. Toung and grove? That just might work. Might be as much work as a scarf joint but should hold strong. Just lay glass over both sides of a joint that was just butted together with a fitted castle wall type pattern should work like a charm. I think I may just try...

    Cajun Secret Pirogue?

I like the no rib, clean design. That is one thing I don't like about the UJ plans too much stuff on the floor. I made the UJ.....(with modifications) with only one rib. I feel like that is all that is needed

    New Cajun here!

Welcome, I built this one and streatched the width enough she seems pleanty strong and spudded into the mud it is a good shooting platform. Don't worry about buying an extra sheet or two of plywood. To me it is the least of the expense of building.. the glass and epoxy are more...

    Where have I been?

Yea those chairs were a pretty cool discovery. the local Home Depot had them this summer and didn't sell them all...eventually marked them down to 9.99 each. They are so comfortable and have a back pack integrated in. the regular price was 25 bucks. I like them so much I think they are worth...
