    Muzzle loaders

I bought a Lyman Mustang last year. Break action, no external hammer, pretty easy to clean, pretty as a picture. My eyesight has gone the way of my age and I never have liked shooting sights on a gun anyway. The inlines accommodate a scope a lot better. I have a Hawken I just got back...

    TV 15-32 SOF

Yea, glad to have company. Seems like few major tools and toys in my life are not modified by me in some way. How can people live in this world full of cookie cutter stuff with out being able to customize things to fit them? Tom

test run pics laker 14 and okwata 15

Great looking rig. Where in the world are you. Looks like you are set up for salt maybe. There is nothing like making things custom for yourself, everything else is just not good enough. Tom

    SOF 15' 22'' build

Yea, I saw that guy at the start of the race. I talked to him, can't remember if I got him on video or not. The SOF lightweight construction would be great for the race, want to carry as little weight as possible. You got me wanting to give it a try........so many boats to build so little...

Something ... NO ONE ... will tell you....Bandanns........

Re: Something ... NO ONE ... will tell you....Bandanns...... Big bandana fan myself. Put a little knot in each corner for a light weight, sweat absorbing hat. I got camo ones that make a nice face mask while hunting if I forget my face mask. Never go forth outdoors without it.

    Square stern on a Pirogue.

This aluminum kayak is not all that heavy compared to most of the plastic stuff on the market. 12 foot and the deluxe model with the hood is only 50 pounds. I know we can and do make boats longer and lighter but not too far out of what is popular on the market. Can't beat the tin for no...

    Square stern on a Pirogue.

Hey that's one of those Missouri made canoes....got to like that. Osagian canoes has just came out with a new aluminum kayak. I think they just might have something there. The whole world is turning their noses away from canoes and looking at kayaks as the only boat to paddle...

    TV 19'1"- 32 racing pirogue

Yes, the boat does hold a line pretty good. I do like the rudder though, saves some energy not having to make corrective strokes. Paddled 5 miles last night with my girlfriend holding a fishing rod trolling for muskie on the local lake. No bites, but a good work out.

    TV 15-29 strip build

    TV 19'1"- 32 racing pirogue

Been a long time since I updated this thread. Finished the 95 mile Kansas race in good order. Just a pain to get photos loaded to a photo server and link to them separately. I have updated them in my face book album but I don't think I can drop them on the forum directly. I have put...

    Pedal Paddling?

I got up to 11 mph in my racing TV on the Missouri this spring measured on GPS. High water good current, 25 - 30 mph tail wind, two paddlers. Our typical GPS speed on flat water no current or wind is 4.0 to 4.5 mph on the gps. The MR 340 is back on for this year Oct. 11th we will start the...

    More Alligator Gar Fun

Wow excellent adventure! You could title this adventure ugly fish from pretty boats. We don't have too many gator gar up this far north, I know some guys from Missouri that go to Texas to bow hunt them. I have always wanted to chum a hole and try to rod and real some big carp just have not...

    Order some 1.5 OZ cloth

Tight weave...I bought some pre cut "tape" from I don't know and it was a tight weave. Frayed edges and horrible to lay down on sharp edges exactly not the right application. Ron, no offense taken. You have built a lot more than me. Yes it does wet out nice. top decks on yaks would be...

    Order some 1.5 OZ cloth

Oh, BTW just thought of another good use for 1.5 cloth. Paddle faces. Now there is an application where you want tough. TX river rat? You do not tape your seems? Never thought of that. I guess that is because most plans and instructions I have read say to tape the seems then put on cloth...

    Order some 1.5 OZ cloth

Here in Missouri it is a different world in the north where I live and in the south where I like to visit. The rocky fast flowing Ozark streams of the south call for some pretty serious protection. If I spent a lot of time on them with a wood boat I would want a lot of bottom abrasion...

    Order some 1.5 OZ cloth

let's do it amicably? I thought we were. I welcome a little debate on this subject. When I was first considering using it I couldn't find anyone that had tried it. No info on any forums anyway. So I thought I would open up a little discourse here. Tom

    Order some 1.5 OZ cloth

I am glad you do. Let's throw down the gloves and go at it..... I feel you are right in saying the bottom is for wear and I understand the inside would help to hold things together against a blow. Wouldn't most of that quality of strength be served with the thin glass? Just the act of tying...
