    Camp coffee

I have one very similar to that, made from Lexan, but I also use the Robert Timms coffee bags. In Australia we call it a coffee plunger. I stuff mine with a minimalist 1st aid kit so that it doesnt take up much more room when backpacking. Cheers Mike

Hi George, Yep youhave it all right but don't let me stop you having another bourbon :) The rear caribiner is hooked onto a couple of loops of bungy cord. I also used a carabiner here so that if I want I can remove the rope fom here and the opening of the other carabiner and pull the rope...

    anchor trolleys

Those two clam cleats are opposing each other, so depending on whether anchor is fore or aft as to which one you choose for the anchor, then the other one is used for the trolley line. Cheers Mike

    anchor trolleys

Yes I can lock it so I can sit at any angle to the wind and current. With the middle carabiner I can unclip from the other end of the rope and pull it all forward and tow the kayak over shallow bits or tie off to a tree. Pulleys are expensive and not required. Cheers Mike

    Tying a Self Equalizing Anchor

George, a self equalising anchor is generally used where the anchor points available, are not sufficient individually to support the load. so each of those 3 carabiners could be attached to small trees for abseilling etc. Cheers Mike

    Campfire Chatter ...... Stoves.

Mick, HOW can you afford ULP to fill the stove    Actually I bought one for hiking when I lived in Mackay (2001), but got rid of it because - it was too heavy and too large for my 45l backpack: I could not get it to simmer: There was always a hassle with leaking fuel...

Jack, I put quite a few holes in mine for that reason. If the black comes of with a scotchbrite in cold water, that is good, if not it wont come of in my pack :D Cheers Mike

    Campfire Chatter ...... Stoves.

Thanks Jack, I needed to be sure that I had a good meal at the end of a long day, so that is why I strayed from my normal maxim of trying to get each piece of equipment to do more than one function, and carried a back up to the canister stove. My Nimblewill only weighs 3oz. 73 Mike

    Pre packing for a trip

I used the Laughing Cow cheese when I did a 965km 27day hike in West Australia in May 2004 and had no problems at all. I also ate some left over rations about twelve months later and the only problem was that where the alfoil was damaged, the cheese went hard. cheers Mike

    Wood fired camp stove

G'day Jack, I dropped some along the way to the midpoint where I left my car with friends and posted the rest forward and caught a bus to the trailhead. I kept my food in freezer bagsfor each day, then put 5days into Odour-proof Aloksacks, that way the possums didn't go near it -...

    Wood fired camp stove

When I walked the Bibbulmun track, I spent the night at one of the shelters with four other walkers and they each had 4ltrs of chateau cardboard port. The only cup I had was my 500ml pot :D I slept well that night and they didn't stir when I left at 6am in the dark
