Epoxy, dude. Just go with epoxy. Glass the inside and outside. Build a strong boat. That way when the situation get bad you won't have to worry about you boat cracking out there in the middle of nowhere :cry:

Here is another option: outrig the boat like a a pacific island canoe then make a box transom out of 3/4 inch plywood and mount the trolling motor and transom on the aft crossbeam.

That sounds like a good plan, especially the dry sew part. I always wondered how you wold make all that work.
Although the UJ skiff kit has a square transom but only uses one stem. So I guess there are different ways of doing things.
