The width of your boat and the height that you sit will also make a difference in needed length as will whether you use a low or high angle stroke.

Effects of Boat's Design On Paddling

My old Blue Hole canoe was about 35 inches wide and I paddled it from the center when solo. The seats were just below the gunnels about 12 inches high. That was alright in flat water. I would always get off of the seat and kneel in whitewater. In the South Wind 15-30 and my pirogue which are...

    Race challenge...

I'm with JEM. An almost 16 foot pirogue against a 9 foot SOT, he shouldn't stand a chance unless he ties a bucket or something onto your boat.

    Moster Gar

I gotta agree with Ron, fish are animals. Some animals walk on two feet and some don't even have feet and swim.

    Moster Gar

One of those articles says that they can get to 50, the other says 50 to 75. I can show others saying about 50 so I don't see how you can find it way out of reason. One of those two sources says that female mature around age 11 the other says at 12-14. For the males one says age 6 the other says...

    Moster Gar

The age of a gar can be determined after killing it by studying the otoliths in the inner ear. Those put on rings each year like a tree ring. While the Brazos may still have a good population, in many locations they are declining and several states where they are found have put one or two fish...

    Old Tools

We didn't have the tool went we had the baler. The tool was picked up later. The baler that we had used wire and was powered by a 2 cylinder Wisconsin motor. Making the bales was the easy part, but even that wasn't much fun especially when the wind was blowing the hay scraps on you. Cutting the...

    Old Tools

I didn't like any part of baling hay. Sure was glad when my father sold that hay baler.

    Old Tools

Actually it just holds onto the bale for you. You still have to pull it up with a rope.

That is for lifting bales of hay up into your hayloft.

    Wilderness Mosquito Control?

The skeeters at Lake Fausse last year didn't mind the Thermacells at all. I stood between two of them which were about 4 feet apart with no wind and the skeeters kept biting. DEET did help some.

    Epoxy thickness

Just try not to sand into the fiberglass. Any epoxy above the cloth can be sanded off.
