    When I bought my first canoe, and brought it home, I told my wife, “I named the canoe after you.” She was all excited, and ran out doors to see it. Surely enough, stenciled there on the boat was “AFTER YOU”.

    Michigan is similar. Canoes and kayaks need no registration if paddled. BUT, when my late wife wanted an electric trolling motor on a canoe for when she went fishing, it had to be registered.

    I’m thinking that the dowel doesn’t really need to be any thicker than, say, 3/8”? It adds a lot of flexible strength, and is lighter than thickened epoxy. Dowel does not have to be buried out of sight. Might be easy to ger carried away there?
