Benefits of Florida , Meeting new people.

I still blame the gritz for loss of the dinosaurs. Just look at what they did to Chuck’s hair! That oughta prove something.

I was pretty young then, and had to rely on cave drawings. I think that what killed off the dinosaurs was soon after gritz were invented. Either that or a 12 gauge slug. But, most likely the gritz.

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Thanks, guys. We had a good trip. I’d forgotten to mention that every morning, we had sandhill cranes gargling their weird calls about a half a mile away. And at any time, day or night, loons were out there diving for fish, flying with wingbeats underwater. When they surface, they send out...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

PRETTY LAKES STATE PARK In Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (locally referred to as the U P, pronounced as “you pea”) are miles and miles, of miles and miles. Historically, it was mining country. Copper and iron.. Snowmobiling hunting, logging, drinking, and making babies are now big activities up...

So, the guy did an incomplete job of scalping you. We’ll hope that he doesn’t come back to finish the job. Darned cancers of different kinds are things we have to watch out for. I had one (squamus) on the side of my left foot, just under the ankle bone. No sunshine there. Beats me what the...

    Barrier Coat

Does it have glass beads in it? Seems to me that was a suggested technique to harden epoxy for abrasion protection? Joey, do you recall anything about that? Or, am I out in left field?

I’ve been advised to not try to modify an existing bike. Buying a whole one makes sense. sigh

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Thanks. I ended up dropping thoughts of that conversion kit. They originally started with a $400 neighborhood price. Then announced out of stock, but you could sign up for a unit at 50% discount when stock arrived. 50% is a very large discount, and it started a little bell of suspicion in the...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

I like my Dahon folding bike. It packs nicely into the back of my Toyota RAV-4. I can pack both (1) a non folding bike with front wheel removed, and (2) my bike folded and front wheel removed. I have a luggage rack permanently attached to the rear, and sometimes attached to the front for...

    NORMAL AS USUAL

We each define “normal” in terms of ourselves. For nearly all of us, that’s an OK thing. When people out on the ends of the bell curve do that, the definition of the word is skewed. Say, if both Trump’s normal and Biden’s normal were to be compared?

    NORMAL AS USUAL

Some, who hope to have you change at their suggestion, tell you that “there’s now o new normal.” NO THERE ISN’T! Normal - averages - are made up of a very few extremes, plus thousands of examples that aren’t extreme. What was normal last year, is still normal. All through 2020, I got my hair...
