However there's nothing to stop you combining the two. User the UJ-style straight side panels with a two-piece stem. Thus keeping the rocker but not needing to cut the UJ stempiece as per the plans.

Can't find the link (possibly on my work laptop and I can't be doing with booting it up at 10 o'clock on a Sunday night) but there are some free plans showing just that on the web somewhere. One truncated triangular prism joins the two side boards and then a smaller triangular-section block...
I like trains too. The UK is a small island compared to the US (compared to some States come to that!) but is a good place to do some pretty train trips. If you look into it you can get some steam 'specials' which use old locos for vintage smell and sound.

Would you all fully glass the inside of a pirogue?
I was thinking of 4" (10cm) tape on the inside seams and glass over the whole bottom (say 4" up the sides too). This was based on using 1/4" (6mm) ply.
Ah... I am glad to hear that. I had visions of it magically having to be squished into placed and wasn't sure how to do that.
I could only see it being possible if it was cut and overlapped, which is what folk seem to be doing so that feels better.
