Really Strong Rope

I've mentioned this stuff before, and it bears rementioning.

Amsteel rope the size of a shoestring has 1,400 pound tensile strength! No, that isn't a typographical error. And, it costs about the same as common, nylon cird.

Jack, I learned about this stuff while building my hammocks. A friend gave me 30 ft of 3/8" he had on hand. It's rated at 17,600 lbs!! That'll hold up my skinny butt.

I used the 7/64" on the winch to haul the Duck into the hangar. My shoestrings are the same size!

Does it stretch much? I've seen the specs, but they are hard to put in perspective for practical use. For a hammock, would you expect it to stretch enough with a 170 pounder that it would have to be retied frequently?

Almost no stretch at all, Tom. Less than steel.
